I cant help myself

I swear to god, this it it. No more bullshit. From here on out we will be posting only real blog updates about bands we havent already featured....

 but until then....

I FOUND SOME MORE SICK ASS AT THE DRIVE IN VIDEOS!!!!!!!!

This first one is great because it features Cederic on guitar, which was usually only done on this song (although I think they should have done it more often).

This second one features Cederic being extremely emo (even for himself) while telling a story about a friend of theirs who jumped off a bridge. I am not trying to belittle the death of their friend...im just sayin...dude is pretty emo

About Two Days: Christie Front Drive

I'm sure that here at Nothing Feels Good we'll have quite a few bands that fit the "90s Midwest Emo" style, and though 95% of the bands flew under the mainstream radar, some even still flew under the lowered bar for one reason or another. Christie Front Drive is one of the rare gems the lucky ones are able to come by once in a great while, and I consider myself very lucky to have discovered them. Although they aren't often found in the forefront of the aforementioned 90s Midwest Emo sound, CFD are definitely up to par with the likes of Mineral and Sunny Day Real Estate, which makes me wonder why they aren't more widely recognized by fans. As it is, whether or not fans of the sound have heard of CFD themselves, they've most definitely been subjected to their style, as the band was a major influence on the genre as a whole.

While CFD's releases can seem to be kind of scattered and multiplied, the two Freewill Records albums and several 7" were later combined and released as a self-titled full length album (commonly referred to as "Anthology") (1)

Christie Front Drive / Boys Life Split EP [Crank! Records]

Videos

Video footage of CFD from their time is extremely rare and hard to find, and when you can find the occasional tidbit its impossible to watch due to blown out audio. These videos are from a reunion show at Denver's DenverFest III.

The Power of Failing, a brief history of Mineral

Photobucket

This is a hard one. I mean its not like there is actually a lot of material to discuss here.

Mineral was a rock band that started in Houston, TX in 1994. Shorty thereafter the band relocated to Austin. They released two albums through Crank! A record comapny (Thats the full name of the label, not just me explaining what they do) and disbanded before even being able to properly tour on their final release.

Mineral was without a doubt one of the most underrated bands of the 1990's, often credited with helping to shape and define the sound that come to be known as "emo". They had the classic touring rock band mentality of  "Fucking get up and go and get shit done". Mineral toured the United states extensively in a very short period of time. This is the type of band you can look at and sincerely tell that they showed up every night at small clubs to play to 20 to 30 kids...and they couldnt have been happier about it.

Minerals music contained a heartfelt honesty beyond even the obviously self influenced lyrical stylings of bandleader Chris Simpson. You can hear the longing in his voice and you can feel the passion in the pounding drums and raw guitars of the band.

MINERAL DISCOGRAPHY:

       Full length LPs:

The Power of Failing (Crank, 1997)
                                    Endserenading (Crank, 1998)

There really arent that many good live videos out there when it comes to Mineral stuff...they are all VHS transfers (which really, is kind of sweet) but most of them are poorly mixed or completely blown out.

The one video I do have for you is pretty spectacular though. Its from Mind Over Matter fest which was held in Wayne County just outside of Detroit in my home state of Michigan on March 7-9th in the amazing year that was 1997. So enjoy this one guys, it really showcases Mineral at the top of their game.

NOTE: REALLY CHECK OUT HOW HARD THIS GUY POUNDS THOSE DRUMS.

The At The Drive in Classroom Videos

We will start our first post with a total classic.
Photobucket

At the Drive in was band that formed in El Paso, TX sometime in the year 1993. At that point in my life I was 6 years old but from what I hear, it was a pretty good year for a lot of people.  They released several Albums (listed below) and toured constantly for several before disbanding in 2001 after the release of their most critically acclaimed album Relationship of Command. The members have gone on to reach great financial success in other projects of which I am sure you are more familiar with although I dont really find the need to name them here.

Since 2009 several members of the band have been making slight hints towards a possible reunion in the future.

 AT THE DRIVE IN DISCOGRAPHY:

         EP's:

                                   Hell Paso  (Western Breed 1994)
Alfaro Vive, Carajo! (Western Breed 1995)
                                   El Gran Orgo (Offtime 1997)
                                   Vaya (Fearless, 1999)
Sunshine/ATDI split (Big Wheel Recreation 2000)

         LP's:

                                  Acrobatic Tenement  (Flipside 1996)
                                  In Casino Out (Fearless 1998)
Relationship of Command (Grand Royal 2000)

So, here they are...I really wish I knew more about the actual date these videos were recorded but guessing by the line-up I would have to say this was sometime mid 1998. What I do know about these videos is that they show a band with so much raw energy and a pure and genuine drive to take the world by storm. To further this point I have also included a live video from Big Day out Festival in 2001, right before they broke up.
